UDHAMPUR, Oct 11: Raising the voice against the scarcity of water in Udhampur, former MLA and NPP president Balwant Singh Mankotia warned administration for early restoration of water supply in the city.
NPP activists lodged large protest against PHE Deptt at Slathia Chowk here today. Scores of Party leaders and workers including all the 16 contesting party candidates assembled at pre-decided venue and blocked the National Highway for about an hour.
Reiterating the prime Municipal election promise, Mankotia assured the general public while addressing the media that NPP is clear on its election promise and will solve the water scarcity problem in the city soon after the formation of Panthers Municipal Council in Udhampur .
Mankotia revealed that Rs 28.84 crore water scheme was sanctioned during his tenure as MLA for Udhampur, which resulted in the daily supply of water to each and every household.
Expressing deep anguish over the failure of local representatives, former MLA revealed that after the 2014 assembly polls Rs 7.5 crores remained un-utilised in the above mentioned water scheme but local representatives misused the remaining funds with the assistance of local administration, which has resulted into water scarcity in city today. Mankotia demanded high level probe in this scam.
Mankotia warned the administration for early restoration of water supply otherwise they will be forced to agitate strongly in coming days. He also claimed that NPP delegation will meet the local Administration over the high traffic jam problem in the town.
A large number of Party leaders including District president Sanjit Sharma, Tarentar Singh, Shameem Akhtar, Savitri Devi, Subash Singh, Vikas Kumar, Vijay Sallan, Chanchal Devi, Sunil Proach, Samnik Bhasin, Ajay Singh, Sanjana Sharma, Balbir Singh, Aman Sharma, Arti Verma, Rajesh Verma, Navita Verma, Pawan Kumar Sawhney and others accompanied Mankotia.
