Notorious drugs trafficker arrested with heroin

JAMMU, Nov 7: Gangyal police under ‘Operation Sanjeevani’ arrested a notorious drugs trafficker along with 15 grams of heroin.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Gangyal Police Station laid a naka at Model Town and signaled an Alto car bearing registration No JKO8B-4439 to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the driver accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape, but the cops intercepted the car after a brief chase.
During checking, police recovered 15 grams of heroin from the possession of the driver and arrested him.
The arrested person has been identified as Davinder Singh alias Tika alias Sunny, son of late Joginder Singh, a resident of Digiana Camp.
On further questioning, the accused disclose that he had brought the consignment from Punjab for selling among the youth residing in and around Jammu to make them drug addicts. The accused was a notorious drugs trafficker and with his arrest, police achieved a major success to save the youth from becoming drug addicts.
A case under FIR Number 81/17 under Section 8/21/22 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the accused at Police Station Gangyal and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Gangyal SI Nayat Ali made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Mohammed Rafiq Manhas, SP South Sandeep Choudhary and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
