Notorious drug peddler nabbed with charas

JAMMU, Jan 19: Police arrested a notorious drug peddler from Dogra Chowk area, falling under the jurisdiction of Nowabad police station.
As per police sources, based on reliable information, a team from Nowabad police station laid a naka near Dogra Chowk and asked a pedestrian to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the pedestrian tried to escape from the spot, but the cops chased and nabbed him.
During checking, police recovered 24 grams charas from the possession of the pedestrian and arrested him.
The accused has been identified as Abhinandan Raj, son of Rajinder Raj, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, at present Vijaypur. He is a notorious drug peddler and is involved in the cases of smuggling of narcotic substances in the past also.
A case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Nowabad police station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Nowabad Inspector Raghubir Singh made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO West Nikhil Rasgotra and SP City Dr Vinod Kumar.
