Notorious drug peddler arrested with heroin, sharp edged weapons

JAMMU, Apr 15: Gandhi Nagar police under ‘Operation Sanjeevani’ arrested a notorious drug peddler along with heroin and two sharp edged weapons.
As per police sources, based on reliable information, a team from Gandhi Nagar police station laid a naka near Valmiki Chowk and signaled a BMW car bearing registration number HR03L-9984 to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the driver accelerated the vehicle and escaped from the spot. Stinking something fishy, the cops chased and intercepted the vehicle near some distance from the naka point.
During checking, police recovered 7 grams heroin and two sharp edged weapons (khokhries) from the vehicle and arrested the driver.
The accused has been identified as Rohit Choudhary, son of Rampal Choudhary, a resident of Raipur Satwari. He is a notorious drug peddler and involved in smuggling of narcotics.
A case under FIR Number 71/17 under Section 8/21/22 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and 4/25 Arms Act has been registered against the accused at police station Gandhi Nagar and investigation started.
It is pertinent to mention that the accused is already involved in a case registered under FIR Number 71/16 with police station Gandhi Nagar which is under trial in the Court.
Police team led by SHO Gandhi Nagar Inspector Ritesh Samyal and assisted by SI Tariq Ahmed made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas and SP South Sandeep Choudhary.
