Notorious drug peddler arrested with heroin

UDHAMPUR, June 7: Police arrested a notorious drug peddler and recovered heroin from his possession.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Udhampur Police Station laid a naka near Forest Department office and intercepted a person, who was moving under suspicious circumstances.
During checking, police recovered 6 grams heroin valuing Rs 60000 from the possession of the person and arrested him.
The arrested person has been identified as Rifaqat, son of Mohammad Shafi, a resident of Sai Baba Temple Devika, District Udhampur.
It is to mention here that the arrested accused is a history sheeter of Udhampur Police Station, major drug supplier of the area and recently has been bailed out from court in NDPS  Act case.
With his arrest, police achieved success to save the youth from becoming drug addicts.
A case under FIR Number 249/18 under Section 8/21/22 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Udhampur Police Station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Udhampur Inspector Vijay Singh Choudhary and assisted by SI Jaswinder Singh, SI Rahul Mahajan and SI Bupesh Singh made the arrest under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Udhampur Kulbir Handa and Additional SP Faisal Qureshi.
