Srinagar, Sept 23: Police today said it arrested a notorious drug peddler and recovered narcotic substance from his possession in Handwara area of Kupwara district.
A police official said that acting on specific information, police arrested a notorious drug peddler namely Hilal Ahmad Dar from main town of Handwara. “Narcotic substance, which was meant to be distributed among the youth of the district, was recovered from his possession,” he said.
The spokesman said that a case under FIR number 298/2017 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act was registered and investigation was taken up. “Pertinent to mention here that the accused being habitual offender was previously booked under PSA and other heinous offences,” he said.
