JAMMU, Feb 21: Gangyal police foiled a murder plot with the arrest of a hardcore criminal along with unlicenced double barrel gun and live cartridges.
As per police sources, based on reliable information, a team from Gangyal police station laid a naka near Seohra area and asked a pedestrian coming from Bandu Rakh side to stop for checking. On seeing police cops, the pedestrian tried to escape, but the cops nabbed him after brief chase.
During checking, police recovered a 12 bore unlicenced double barrel gun along with 5 live cartridges, 18 rounds of pistol and one round of .315 gun and arrested the pedestrian.
The accused has been identified as Paramjeet Singh alias Murga alias Pankaj, son of Harnam Singh, a resident of Seohra Gangyal.
A case under FIR Number 15/17 under relevant Sections was registered against the accused at police station Gangyal and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, it came to fore that Paramjeet Singh is a hardcore criminal and is associated with Vikramjeet Singh’s gang. Paramjeet was planning to eliminate his rival Gurbachan Singh alias Gaama and his brother Robel and for that purpose he met notorious criminal Sunny Baba in the court who had arranged a unlicenced double barrel gun, which Paramjeet purchased for Rs 40,000 from a criminal from Pathankote.
It is pertinent to mention that Paramjeet was booked under Public Safety Act (PSA) and recently his PSA was quashed, while Vikramjeet Singh, the kingpin of the gang is still in jail under PSA.
Timely intervention of police and arrest of the notorious criminal has averted a major gang war between two rival groups.
Police team led by SHO Gangyal Inspector Aejaz Wani made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas and SP South Sandeep Choudhary.
