JAMMU, Apr 16: Gujjars-Bakerwals Employees Association (GBEA) and Gujjars-Bakerwals Youth Association (GBYA) held a meeting under the chairmanship of Muhammad Asad Noomani, President GBEA.
While addressing the participants, Noomani urged for greater coordination and unity among underprivileged sections of society to counter reactionary forces.
Demanding allocation of various public services including reservation in proportion to population of various underprivileged groups, he said there is a well planned strategy devised by brahminic forces to sabotage the egalitarian shifts in the society.
Noomani particularly demanded restoration of inter-district recruitment and reservation in promotions. He said ban of inter-district recruitment and reservation in promotions is an assault on the constitutional guarantees to the weaker sections.
He urged the GBEA and GBYA office holders to educate the employees and youth in their respective areas about the increasing institutional prejudices against the underprivileged sections and the ways and means to counter it.
Several office holders of GBEA and GBYA including Barkat Shad, Haji Farooq Dehdar, Khalid Amin Kohli, Attaullah Shad, Razaq Kalas, Altaf Ahmed, Usman Choudhary, Lal Hussain Terwa, Javed Iqbal Doi, Sadeeq Kohli and many others also spoke on the occasion.
