Nonpayment of salaries

Rahbar-e-Talim (ReT) teachers have not been paid salaries for last six months. It is a centrally sponsored scheme and funds come from the Ministry of Human Resource Development. This is the case even after their formal regularization has been announced. Since salary has not been paid to them, many teachers under ReT scheme have left their places and gone for physical labour opportunities to hide the shame of the degree they have been holding. After all they need to survive.
Denying them their salaries for such a long time is not only unjust but also cruel. It is denial of human rights and does not behoove the Indian culture at all. The State is legally and morally bound to pay them their salaries on time. The question is not which agency is at fault or which agency is delaying the release of salary. It is a human issue and the Government should not embark on acts of vandalism and punitive punishments. Their salary should be released without a single day’s delay.
