‘Non-conduct of delimitation conspiracy against Jammu’

Excelsior Correspondent
KATHUA, Feb 14: With the view to educate the people from  Jammu region against ill-affects on the people from this region non-conduct of  delimitation of Assembly constituencies, the Delimitation Forum organised awareness meeting at Kootah village in Hiranagar today.
A large number of former Sarpanchs, Panchs, retired officials and prominent persons from nearly ten  Panchayats of  Hiranagar Sub Division attended the meeting which was presided over by M J Sharma, retired senior Forest officer. Several speakers expressed their view point on the subject and condemned the role of some Kashmir based parties for ignoring the conduct of Delimitation in the State for the vested interests.
During the meeting,  the deliberations were made on the 42nd Amendment of Indian Constitution and the 29th of the J&K Constitution, as  in both the Amendments blanket ban on the delimitation of  Parliament as well as Legislative Assemblies has been imposed  up to 2031, which is virtually up to 2035-37. Keeping the number of constituencies as same up to this period as also reserved assemblies is great injustice, especially with the people of Jammu region.  This is real misuse of constitutional provisions by the public representatives.   Forum appealed to the people of Jammu to awake from deep slumber and start a mass movement in the region against this great injustice and deep rooted conspiracy against Jammuites. The Forum also resolved organize a large awareness rally in Hiranagar headquarters next month where a decisive movement will be launched.
