Sir,
Ramkot town announced as a new administrative unit (Tehsil) in February 2014 and became functional in a renovated double storey building of IWDP (Integrated Water Project Development) in August 2014. But even after four years, not even a single Tehsil level office have been opened in Ramkot Tehsil. People have to travel to Billawar or Basohli for their works done, which are 35 and 72 km far from here.
Ramkot (formely known as Mankot) has a rich history. One can refer to an Urdu book, ‘Tareekh -e-Dogra Desh’ written by Narsingh Das Nargis in 1967.
Mankot (Ramkot) earlier had area upto Samna Banj in the North, Mahoregarh (near Mansar), Bari Garh and Mast Garh (Near Agli Dhar. But today it has shrunk to a very small area. It has its own are of painting, some paintings were displayed in Boston museum in 1990s.
