No interviews for Class IV posts

It has been decided that henceforth eligible candidates for appointment to Class IV posts in State departments , companies, Organizations, Bodies etc substantially owned or controlled by the Government shall have not to face interviews  and written test conducted by the Services Selection Board  (JKSSB) shall be the only criterion , of course on merit basis.
Governor N. N. Vohra, while attending 5th meeting of the State Administrative Council which Advisors to the Governor also attended deliberated upon, among other issues, the one under reference – where this decision with far reaching results was taken. This, not only cuts down the most decisive and mandatory prerequisite to get an appointment as class IV employee, often seen with disdain  and even with suspicion, but shall prove more transparent in form and structure.
The periodicity of conducting written tests by the Services Selection Board is linked with the pooling of all vacancies of Class IV in various State departments by the General Administration Department and refer them to the Board. Time bound selections are proposed to be made based on merit secured in the written examination up to the level of 10th standard.
Such a decision, much awaited, is welcome and it is hoped that the same shall result in more transparency, fairness, accountability and equitable opportunities of employment to aspiring youth of Jammu and Kashmir State. It would add luster and sheen to the entire new process in case appointment letters were sent direct to the selected ones by post / mail etc after the candidate appeared in the written test and notched his or her place in the merit list.
