No funds for transformer workshop announced in DDB meeting

JAMMU, Jan 17: Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh today admitted in the Legislative Assembly that no funds have been earmarked for establishment of transformer repair workshop, which was announced in the District Development Board (DDB) meeting of Jammu.
Raising the issue during the Question Hour, BJP MLA from Akhnoor Rajeev Sharma sought to know the reasons behind delay in start of work on establishment of transformer repair workshop, which was announced in the DDB meeting.
“The Detailed Project Report amounting to Rs 330.45 lakh for setting up of a new transformer repair workshop at Akhnoor has been prepared and submitted for obtaining Techno Economic Clearance (TEC)”, said the Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh, who is also Minister Incharge Power.
“The land for the workshop has been identified in the receiving station Tanda. However, the work has not been sanctioned under any programme/scheme at present”, he said, adding “the issue has been taken up with the Planning, Development and Monitoring Department for providing of requisite funds as an additionality during the current financial year”.
