Mohammad Abbas Wani formally joined PC led by Sajjad Lone and is the fourth legislator of previous Assembly to join the PC.
Sajjad Lone while welcoming Mohhamad Abbas Wani in the party during a press conference said that he has been the victim of elitism in the PDP and faced hardships in the hands of fellow Ministers.
“There were deliberations with Mohammad Abbas and he has good relations with us. He is a mirror in the Kashmiri politics as he has been a victim of elitism and belongs to a humble background. He was never been forgiven by the PDP for winning the elections as he was not elite. I am the witness of hardships he faced at the hands of his fellow Ministers. This elitism is one of the faces of the Kashmir politics and Mohammad Abbas is one of the victims. I assure him that this is not a party of elites and every one will be equally treated”, said Lone.
Lone described the visits of former Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, to the families of militants, as political opportunism. “And what Omar Abdullah said to her in brawl, he should himself see that his hands are soaked in blood. Majority of the massacres that have taken place in Kashmir, PDP and NC were directly or indirectly in power here”, he said.
Speaking on the occasion, Mohammad Abbas Wani while criticizing National Conference (NC) and PDP said that the State needs a change like America. “I was with the NC up to 2008 and have seen the respect for the workers there. PDP was new for me but I saw the respect there also. We need a change in this State like the slogan of former American President, Barrack Obama, ‘Change we need’ that changed America. This time Peoples’ Conference will bring change here and will emerge as victorious. I consider myself as lucky that I have joined PC. Now we will bring change in the State and will give respite to the people from the elite parties,” he said
Earlier, former Minister Imran Raza Ansari, former MLA Zadibal, Abid Ansari, Raja Aijaz Khan and ex-MLA Zanskar, Baqir Rizvi have joined the People’s Conference.
