JAMMU, Sept 24: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) today urged upon the Chief Minister to release salary/pension of employees and pensioners of State Government before upcoming Mahanavmi and Dussehra festivals.
Addressing a meeting of workers, NMC president, Subhash Shastri, said that the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti had last month directed the release of salary before Eid-ul-Azha festival, which was an employee-friendly gesture.
He said that similar practice should be followed in case of upcoming Mahanavmi and Dussehra festival and in future as well so that employees can celebrate their religious festivals with fervour and gaiety. He said that budgetary grants, constraints should not factor in the release of salary/pension and wages on this account.
Expressing grave concern over the Central Government’s decision for its meager release of 1% DA to its employees and pensioners, Shastri brought home the point that the consumer price index had projected DA installment of 3 or 4% but still it was restricted to paltry one percent. He demanded an early release of 7% DA in favour of employees and pensioners of the State Government so that they would get a sigh of relief.
Shastri also stressed upon the Government to increase wages of daily rated workers to Rs 350 per day, enhance medical allowance of pensioners to Rs 1000 per month, release of all pending wages of 61000 daily rated workers, early issuance of notification with regard to implementation of 7th Pay Commission recommendations, create wage head for regular disbursement of wages of daily rated workers and remove pay anomalies of clerical cadre under SRO 93.
