JAMMU, Jan 5: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Indian-origin UK politician Lord Megnad Desai will attend second death anniversary function of former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed at Dussehra Grounds, Gandhi Nagar on January 8.
Nitish Kumar was close associate of the Mufti as both had worked together in VP Singh Government. Mufti was the Home Minister in that Government.
Megnad Desai will also deliver ‘Mufti Sayeed Memorial Lecture’ in Jammu the same day.
The Government has also instituted an annual award named “Mufti Mohammad Sayeed Award for Probity in Public Life’ to be conferred on a political personality from the country, which will be given on January 8.
The PDP will hold a function to observe death anniversary of the party founder, Mufti Sayeed in Srinagar on January 7 and Jammu on January 8.
