NITI Aayog VC meets CM, discusses J&K’s development

Srinagar, Oct 28: Vice Chairman, NITI Aayog, Dr Rajiv Kumar today called on Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti here and discussed several issues regarding developmental paradigm of the State.
The Chief Minister brought to the notice of Dr Kumar the need for making the allocation agenda State specific in view of the peculiar nature of Jammu & Kashmir. She said the State has its own set of peculiar hardship indicators like climate, mountainous terrain and limited working season which should be looked into while working on the funds allocation for it.
Mehbooba sought timely release of funds to the State to utilize the limited working season for maximum developmental activity. She said with various initiatives launched by her Government, Jammu & Kashmir has improved its position on the Ease of Doing Business chart. She also sought intervention of NITI Aayog in promoting skill development in the State and getting youth reap the benefits of schemes in this regard.
The Vice Chairman assured the Chief Minister of a supportive and facilitational role by his organization in getting developmental bottlenecks cleared. He informed her of Atal Innovation Mission launched by the Aayog under which incubation centres are being set up in educational institutes. He expressed the desire to set up such centres in schools of the State to boost enterprise among young students.
Dr Kumar also informed Mehbooba of the monitoring mechanism of the Aayog to oversee implementation of Centrally Sponsored Schemes in the States. He informed of the creation of a monitoring and evaluation dashboard by the Aayog for all schemes and sectors.
Minister for Finance, Dr. Haseeb Drabu on the occasion, informed Dr. Kumar of various reformative measures like manpower auditing of the staff and labour reforms initiated in the State and geo tracking of assets being done by the Government in Rural Development Department and Power Development Departments.
Chief Secretary, B B Vyas; Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Rohit Kansal and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
