SAMBA, Oct 1: National Institute for Skills Development (NISD) today opened its second branch in the town of Bari Brahmana inviting all students and locals to get admission to all its courses at Jammu and Bari-Brahmana Centres.
Chander Prakash Ganga, Minister for Industries & Commerce J&K, formally inaugurated the new centre in presence of Director of the institute, Manju Bala and others.
Speaking on the occasion, Chander Prakash Ganga stressed for the necessity of skills for students. He cited the example of the current market situation vis-a-vis Government jobs and advised students to look beyond these current trends and focus on Skill courses like Beauty & Makeup, Fashion Designing etc. He also spoke of the need for today’s generation to possess multiple skill sets in order to be able to perform well in the corporate world where the hierarchy has changed from a top-down approach to a more linear approach with large amounts of networking involved. He also talked of plans to raise the standard of Skill Development Institutions like NISD in order for it to be at par with the older institution.
Manju Bala, Centre Director of NISD, told the students of the various decisions taken before setting up the NISD at Bari-Brahmana. She expressed her desire that this move would help put Bari-Brahmana on the map and grow in stature. She also enjoined the students to take up projects and make recommendations with regards to the development of this industrial town.
Furthermore, Manju Bala spoke of major skills development plans for the town of Bari-Brahmana. She spoke of skills development plans for all students and made them aware how to start their own business and how they can get help from Government for start his/her own business at small, medium or large scale. She also shared some successful example set by NISD students in J&K’s different locations.
On this occasion, NISD opened free admission in all courses for limited seats and for a limited period. Students who want to get admission in different courses of NISD can get the benefits of free admission, the Director informed.
Manager PNB, Canal Road, Jammu, Vishal Shawney, Virpratap Singh from JKEDI, CEO JUDA, NISD Managing Director and others were present on the occasion.
