As the day advanced, people from different walks of life organized ‘Chabeels’ in city and its outskirts and offered sweet cold water and eatables to the people to provide them some respite from the scorching heat wave.
In many temples of the city as well as on its outskirts, religious functions (Jagran and Path) were also organized in which devotees congregated to offer prayers to Lord Vishnu. They sang devotional songs and chant mantras as well as hymns.

The people at stalls offering sweet water to the passengers, pedestrians and other motorists presented a common scene. These water feasts were organized almost at every crossing, bus stop and streets in the city and its surroundings by various religious, social and business organizations as well as individuals.
Even in posh colonies like Gandhi Nagar, Trikuta Nagar and Channi Himmat, people arranged stalls and offered soft drinks, biscuits and even some installed langers for the passengers. People were seen happily having these sweetened water and langers.
It is pertinent to mention here that Nirjala Ekadashi is one of the most popular and toughest Ekadashi fasting dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Many devotees don’t consume food on the day and rely on fruits, potatoes and milk products while many even don’t drink water entire day observing fast. It is considered one of the most auspicious religious observances in Hinduism.
Devotees also donate to Brahmins as per their capabilities. Brahmins are offered clothes, food grains, umbrellas, hand-fans, pitchers filled with water, gold etc.
