Nine gamblers held with over Rs 1 lakh

SRINAGAR, Jan 2: Police today said it arrested nine gamblers and recovered stake money worth over one lakh rupees in Anantnag district of South Kashmir.
A police spokesman said a police party headed by Station House Officer, Ayaz Geelani raided a gambling site near Mehandi Kadel in Anantnag town.
“In the raid, nine gamblers identified as Aadil Ahmad Wani, Farooq Ahmad Malik, Abdul Rashid Bhat, Bashir Ahmad Wani, Irshad Ahmad Tramboo, Shahnawaz Ahmad Khan, Bashir Ahmad Palla, Akthar Najar and Ajaz Ahmad Nanda were arrested,” he added.
The stake money worth Rs. 106760 lakh was recovered from the gambling site, the spokesman said, adding that a case under Section 13 of Gambling Act has been registered against these gamblers and investigation has been taken up.
