Night temp improves but still below freezing point

SRINAGAR, Dec 2: Night temperature in Kashmir showed little improvement today but continued to be below freezing point with Pahalgam yet again recording coldest night followed by Qazigund.
A Meteorological Department official said the minimum temperature in Pahalgam was recorded -2.5 degree Celsius against the previous of -5.1 degree Celsius. He said the day temperature settled in Pahalgam at 13.3 degree Celsius.
The minimum temperature in summer capital Srinagar was recorded -1.5 degree Celsius against the previous of -2.9 degree Celsius. Day temperature in Srinagar settled at 13.8 degree Celsius. Qazigund in South Kashmir recorded a low of -2.2 degree Celsius against the previous of -2.4 degree Celsius while maximum temperature was 13.0 degree Celsius.
In Kupwara, the day temperature was recorded 14.8 degree Celsius and night temperature settled at -2.0 degree Celsius against the previous of -2.4 degree Celsius.
Kokernag recorded a maximum of 12.7 degree Celsius while night temperature was -1.1 against the previous of -0.5 degree Celsius. Gulmarg ski destination recorded a low of -2.0 against the previous of -3.4 degree Celsius while maximum temperature settled at 6.0 degree Celsius.
Leh recorded coldest night temperature in State where minimum temperature settled at -8.7 while maximum temperature stood at 7.4 degree Celsius. Kargil recorded a maximum of 7.4 degree Celsius and minimum temperature settled at -7.6 degree Celsius. The weather is expected to remain dry across Kashmir during next 72 hours, the MeT Department official added.
