NIFD holds seminar on designing as career option

JAMMU, June 17: To apprise the students about basics of fashion designing, the National Institute of Fashion Designing (NIFD), Karan Market today organised a day-long seminar in its premises here. The seminar was attended mostly by students along with their guardians who recently passed out from class XII board exams.
The seminar focused on discussions surrounding fashion, textile and interior designing as well as art and craft, where in renowned fashion and textile designers, architects and influential personalities shared their expertise and experiences with the participants.
The experts shared their views on how fashion and artistic creativity will have an impact on the future.
The seminar brought immense knowledge and threw light on the modern techniques of the designing world and the creative and innovative aspects of art and craft.
The resource persons delivered a lecture to the participants in their respective fields which witnessed tremendous enthusiasm.
Charu Kotwal, a fashion designer who is running her own boutique and worked with many designers before starting her own venture briefed the budding participants about basics of fashion designing and its emerging future prospects.
Bharat Bhushan Mussa, an architect, who has an experience of 20 years and has many famous projects both Government and private under his belt threw light on the future of taking up an important subject like architecture to make it as a career.
Sanyogita Dogra, who is into art and craft also motivated the participants to opt for a career in this creative field to earn their livelihood.
Earlier, Mamta Jena, Centre Manager, NIFD Campus in her power point presentation presented an overview of the institution including the four main aspects of the curriculum.
Vanita Thakur, NIFD Chairperson in her address said, “After 20 years of unparalleled success, we have decided to take advantage of new opportunities. This year you will see your favourite elements of NIFD. We are continuing with our internship programs as we have tied up with fashion brands such as Madame, Tommy Hilfiger, and Sports King along with them also famous fashion designer Shruti Singla”.
Later, certificates of appreciation and participation were distributed among the students and participants.
