NIA court orders framing of charges against ISIL ‘recruit’

NEW DELHI: A special NIA court has ordered framing of charges against Maharashtra-based ISIL recruit Areeb Ejaz Majeed for having conspired to carry out terrorist acts.

The National Investigation Agency had in November 2014 registered a case against Majeed and his three associates– Saheem Farooque Tanki, Fahad Tanweer Shaikh and Aman Nayeem Tandel– for allegedly conspiring to carry out terrorist activities, as members of the banned ISIL, against India.

The case was registered on the basis of a credible source information that four youths from Kalyan, Maharashtra, had gone to Iraq with a group on May 25, 2014, under the guise of performing ‘Ziyarat’ (religious) tour, the probe agency said today.

Subsequently, they left the group without intimating the tour guide and the other pilgrims and went to Syria to join the ISIL, it said. (AGENCIES)
