JAMMU, Nov 9: NHPC Limited organized State Level Painting Competition on Energy Conservation-2016 at Brig Rajinder Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu, here today.
Six students who stood 1st, 2nd & 3rd in two categories in the competition were awarded Rs.20,000, 15,000 and 10,000 respectively and 20 students were awarded consolation prizes of Rs.5,000 each in an impressive prize distribution function, presided over by RD Sharma, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu.
NHPC was entrusted with the responsibility of organizing School and State Level Painting Competition on Energy Conservation-2016 by Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power, Govt. of India. These Painting Competitions are part of National Awareness Campaign launched by Ministry of Power for promoting Energy conservation in the country, which is the need of the hour.
Earlier, all the Schools in the State of J&K were requested to organize Painting Competition in their Schools amongst students of class 4th, 5th, 6th  (Category-A) and 7th, 8th, 9th (Category-B) and to send 2 best paintings from both the categories to the State Nodal Officer.
As many as 371 Schools and 28434 students from the State of J&K participated in the School Level Painting Competition in the two categories.
110 students thus selected at School Level appeared in the State Level Painting Competition. Utkarsh Pandey, Sainik School, Nagrota, Krishna Sharma, DPS, Jammu, Nischint Singh, Tiny Tots Hr. Sec. School, Sainik Colony, Jammu won 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes respectively from Category-A and Aga Madiha, Classic Public High School, Ahmedpora-Srinagar,  Atish Slathia, MV International School, Vijaypur, Deepuday Singh, Sainik School, Nagrota won 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes respectively from Category-B.
Chief guest R.D Sharma and S Kalgaonkar, Executive Director NHPC spoke on the occasion, while the programme concluded with vote of thanks presented by RK Kedia, State Nodal Officer for Energy Conservation 2016.
