JAMMU, Dec 23: The State-wide pen down strike of Joint Employees Coordination Committee of NHM, RNTCP, NACO and other schemes in support of regularization of the schemes’ employees today entered 4th day.
Like first three days of their strike, hundreds of employees of National Health Mission (NHM), J&K State AIDS Control Society (JKSACS) and Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme (RNTCP), demanding regularization of their services, assembled near Press Club Jammu on 4th day of their strike.
The protesting employees raised slogans against the false promises made by the Government for framing a job policy for the employees of these organizations and burnt an effigy of Minister for Health and Medical Education, Bali Bhagat.
The presidents of all the three organizations viz Rohit Seth (NHM), Nissar Ahmad Dar (JKAC) and Dr SS Samyal (RNTCP) informed the media that Government of J&K is not paying any heed to their genuine demands and forcing them to take aggressive measures to project their demands, which will be not beneficial for anyone, especially the needy and poor patients.
Similarly, a protest was also organized at Press Enclave, Srinagar, by Joint Employees Coordination Committee of NHM, RNTCP, NACO and other schemes. They raised slogans against the Government for not paying heed to their genuine demand of regularization.
While speaking on the occasion, spokesperson of the JECC, Abdul Rauoof, said that in past nine months they have been betrayed multiple times through hollow statements and empty promises by the Health Minister and higher authorities of Health Department and now they need concrete documentation and formal policy safeguarding interests of all categories of employees including doctors, paramedics and management.
“Because of our hard work and dedication, our State is being awarded No 1 State for Primary Health Services from last three consecutive years throughout the country. Now in return if employees are asking for their dividends why Government is showing cold shoulder and are acting as a dumb/mute spectator”, he said, adding that the JECC has decided not to call off the strike till the Government come out with a roadmap/written proposal for regularization of the services of the employees of all the three schemes.
