NHM J&K Director conferred with ‘Award of Excellence’

JAMMU, Nov 20: Dr Mohan Singh, Mission Director, National Health Mission (NHM), J&K was conferred with the “Award for Excellence” for “Leveraging technology to improve Primary Health Care” during the 3rd Annual National Healthcare Summit which was organized by the Department of Medical, Health and Family Welfare, Government of Rajasthan, in Pink City Jaipur, recently.
The Summit witnessed the participation of State Governments, top hospitals, industry players, policy makers, stakeholders, academia and insurance companies. The summit provided an unparallel platform for all leaders to share the latest technology, emerging global healthcare trends, best practices for quality and cost-effective healthcare services that are propelling growth of healthcare in the country. All States across the country participated in the Summit.
On the occasion, Dr Mohan Singh, Mission Director, National Health Mission, J&K has been awarded for leveraging technology in improving the Primary Healthcare in the State especially for Community Health Processes and in best overall initiatives implemented to improve the health system and health status of the people in rural and other areas of the State.
The healthcare industry in J&K has experienced a proliferation of innovations aimed at enhancing life expectancy, quality of life, diagnostic and treatment options, as well the efficiency and cost effectiveness of the healthcare system.
The State has stood at No 1 position in reducing the IMR from 34 to 24. This achievement has been witnessed for the first time in the history of the J&K State and the State has also received Best Practices award by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare at the ‘National Summit on Good and Replicable Practices and Innovations in Public Healthcare Systems’ held recently at Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
As per National Family Health Survey (NFHS), the State of J&K has witnessed increase in the institutional deliveries from 52.2 % in 2005-06 (NFHS 3) to 85.7% in 2015-16 (NFHS 4), and full immunization in children has increased from 52.2 % in 2005-06 (NFHS 3) to 85.7% in 2015-16 (NFHS 4).
