NHM employees stage protest in support of demands

JAMMU, Jan 18: As a part of its 3-day pen-down strike, All JK NHM Employees Association today held a protest here at Press Club against the authorities of Health Department for their failure to redress the just and genuine demands of the employees.
Hundreds of NHM employees today assembled here at Exhibition Ground near Press Club and raised slogans in support of their demands which included regularization of all the NHM employees who have completed 5 years and equal salary to rest of the staff at par with permanent employees, maternity leave with pay, medical leave with pay and social security benefits and fixed salary to all ASHA workers.
While addressing the protesting employees, Rohit Seth, president of the association for Jammu Province, said that they submitted many charter of demands/ representations to Minister for Health and Medical Department but he didn’t respond so far.
Stating that the association wants solution of their demands through negotiation and in peaceful manner, he urged upon the State Government to adopt the humanitarian attitude towards low paid employees who are depending on meager wage and have passing through many hardships.
Seth finally urged upon the Health Department to redress the grievances of employees with positive attitude, otherwise association would have to intensify their agitation.
Prominent leaders who addressed the gathering were Subash Verma and Ashok Choudhary (State president and general secretary of Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh, respectively), Sushil Sudan (president JKMEF) and Virender Gupta, Mohit Seth, Jasmail, Dr Sumeet and Surinder.
