JAMMU, Jan 12: Highlighting the demands of the NHM employees, All J&K NHM Employees Association (NHMEA) today threatened of staging three-day continuous protest cum pen down strike, in case their demands are not met before January 17.
Addressing a press conference here today, Rohit Seth, president of the association for Jammu province, said that the NHM employees are approaching the State Government as well as the concerned department for last 5 years urging them to make a regularization policy for NHM employees but unfortunately none of their genuine demands have been conceded yet.
Castigating the State Government, he said that we had also given an ultimatum to the Government in the month of December 2016 through a State level protest, to concede our genuine demands, but as the Government is still adopting non serious attitude, we don’t have now any other option than to go for complete pen down strike across the State, in case the Government failed to redress our genuine issues before the date intimated.
While lambasting that State Government of their biased approach towards NHM employees, Rohit Seth said that they will leave no stone unturned and fight till they get their rights and whatsoever is possible under Trade Union Act for the welfare of thousands of NHM Employees who are working in State Health Department.
He said the demands of the association include regularization of all NHM employees who have completed 5 years tenure and equal salary at par with permanent employees to rest of the staff, fixed salary for all ASHA workers, minimum 10% annual increment to all NHM staff and framing of transfer policy for NHM employees.
Our demands include facilities like provident fund, maternity leave, baby care leave, medical leave, earned leave, medical insurance, life insurance, etc be given to NHM employees, equal salary to ISM doctors at par with their counterparts (MBBS doctors), job security for NHM employees and stopping the practice of taking affidavits annually from the NHM employees.
