NHAI issues notices to encroachers

SAMBA, Feb 9: Acting against encroachers of highway land in Samba district, the National Highway Authority of India has issued notice to various parties under Sub-Section (2) of Section 26 of the Control of National Highways (Land and Traffic) Act, 2002.
Pertinently, these encroachments have caused frequent accidents on the National Highway.
NHAI has asked the defaulters to remove such unauthorised occupations within 7 days of receipt of the notice and may submit representation, if any, within the same period, to the Project Director NHAI with copy to Collector Land Acquisition (Assistant Commissioner Revenue) Samba.
The authorities have reiterated that failure in compliance to the notice will be liable to penalty and summary eviction from the highway land under Sub-Section (6) of Section 26 of the Control of National Highways (Land and Traffic) Act, 2002.
The district administration has also urged upon the parties to cooperate with NHAI and allow hassle free and safe movement on the National Highway.
