The detailed schedules of the 57 new trains announced in the Rail Budget including 11 Premium Trains and 5 AC Express Trains among others, were released today in the new Time Table here.
The new Time Table, an annual exercise of railways after the budget, will be effective from September 1.
Besides the scheduling of three Premier trains announced in the budget for pilgrimage to Mata Vaishno Devi, details of eight more Premier trains have been mentioned in the new Time Table.
Katra-Bandra weekly Premium Express, Katra-Howrah weekly Premium Express, Katra-Yashwantpur Weekly Premium Express and New Delhi-Kamkhya weekly AC Premium Express are among the 11 new Premium Express trains to find mention in the new scheduling.
Other new trains whose schedule has been announced in the new Time Table include 4 Jansadharan Express Trains, 32 Mail/Express and 5 passenger trains.
According to the new schedule, frequency of Old Delhi-Hoshiyarpur Express has increased from weekly to daily.
Also, there are changes in number of 3 trains, change in timings of 2 trains and change in route of 2 trains.
Unveiling the new Time Table, Northern Railway General Manager Pradeep Kumar stated that the zone ran 3820 special trains during April to July 2014 to clear extra rush of passenger as against 2968 last year which is a percentage increase of 41 per cent.
“Northern Railway ran 1939 special trains during Puja last year to clear extra rush. Special trains are also being planned to run over the various sector especially on eastern sector during Puja rush to meet with the heavy waiting list on all eastern bound trains,” Kumar said.
Lauding the various achievements of the zone in core functional areas, he said Northern Railway launched Go-India Smart Cards for hassle-free purchase of all modes of rail tickets at New Delhi Station during the current year.
He said three stations – Chandigarh, Anand Vihar and Bijwasan Terminals – would be redeveloped with modern facilities for passengers.
