JAMMU, Jan 29: Minister for Education, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari today said that introduction of additional subjects is based on the demand and requires creation of posts of Lecturer(s) in the corresponding subjects.
Responding to a Calling Attention Notice by MLC, Naresh Kumar Gupta seeking Government’s attention towards the situation that has arisen due to delay in introducing more subjects as required which has created confusion among recent pass-out students waiting for the decision in order to get admission in higher secondary classes, the Minister told the Upper House that any proposal for creation of posts involves financial implications (recurring as well as non-recurring) and proposal needs the prior concurrence of the Finance Depar-tment and the approval of the State Cabinet.
He also said that during the current year, proposal for introduction of subjects including Islamic/ Buddhist/ Vedic Studies, Tourism & Micro-Biology were referred to Finance Dep-artment for concurrence.
In this regard the Finance Department has shown inability for creation of posts of Lecturers due to scarcity of resources except Micro-Biology which is under examination in the Finance Department.
He said the School Education Department has already initiated the process for introduction of some more subjects including Bio-Resources, Bio-Chemistry, Bio-Technology, Business Administration, Fisheries, Library Science, Public Administration, Rural Development, Mass Communication, Statistics, Electronics, Information Technology and is under examination at various stages in the department.
