JAMMU, Sept 22: Former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla today alleged that the NDA Government has failed to control ceasefire violations from across the border thus subjecting innocent border inhabitants to hardships.
Speaking to the media after visiting several border areas in R S Pura  sector,  including Arnia and Suchetgarh, Bhalla said with Modi becoming the Prime Minister, the ceasefire violations from across the border have increased manifold and militant attacks have also outnumbered.
Calling the BJP and the People’s Democratic Party coalition in Jammu and Kashmir as an unnatural alliance of divisive ideologies, Bhalla said that for the past few months, the ceasefire violations and militants attacks have broken all previous records and this Government is dragging people into the 90s as more youth are joining militant ranks. “Modi and the BJP have betrayed the people by their hollow promises of strong Government during his election rallies. Whenever UPA wanted to hold talks with Pakistan, the BJP used to ridicule and criticize us, saying talks cannot be held while terror continues. Now, as the terror incidents have increased manifold, the Central Government led by Modi is going two steps forward and four steps backward,” he said.
“I think they don’t have any clear policy with regard to Pakistan,” Bhalla alleged and added that after the heavy mortar shelling by Pakistan in Arnia, families residing in the border villages have been badly affected due to ceasefire violation.
During the visit, the villagers complained to the Congress leader regarding the problem they are facing in the bunkers and said there was no adequate facility for food for the children. They also alleged that the administration had failed to provide them proper facility. In the wake of escalating cross-border tension, villagers in forward areas in the Suchetgarh sector, are living a life of uncertainty as about 8,000 kanals under Basmati crop is under the shadow of Pakistani guns. The land falls near the fence erected by the Government and some of it goes beyond the concertina wires for keeping the infiltrators away.
Prominent among those who accompanied Bhalla, include former MLA Garu Ram Bhagat, Sarpanch Ravinder Singh, Mohan Choudhary, Dev Raj Choudhary, Kuldeep Raj, Mulakh Raj, Madan Lal Sharma, Ashok Sharma, Capt Roop Lal, Gurdyal Singh and others.
