JAMMU, Nov 11: A delegation of NCP led by its state president, Thakur Randhir Singh projected certain issues before the visiting interlocutor, Dineshwar Sharma the other day.
Singh demanded an action against the former J&K rulers who promoted  and encouraged militancy and    corruption in the State. He pointed out that the Government which can not defend the borders has no right to stay in power.
The NCP leader further suggested to establish Border Development Authority for the entire 8 kms border belt from Kathua, Samba, Jammu, Rajouri, Poonch, Uri, Tangdhar, Kargil up to Nobra in Ladakh; provide special type of houses like Israel to the people living closer to Pakistan border. He strongly advocated delimitation of Assembly constituencies in the State and remove political/ economic disparities, provide adequate share to the Jammu which has 26,000 sq km area as compared to that of 16,000 sq kms of Kashmir. The Jammu region deserves more Assembly seats than Kashmir region, as  it has just 37 as compared to 46 in Kashmir region. The veteran politician also suggested several other measures to deal with the situation in J&K state.
Meanwhile, a delegation of Jammu Hotel Restaurant & Bar Association (JHRBA) in a memorandum submitted to Dineshwar Sharma demanded to develop Jammu as independent tourist destination, early completion of Artificial Tawi Lake project, expedite work on Ropeway/ Gandola from Mubarak Mandi to Mahamaya across river Tawi, extend benefits of Industrial package to the Tourism industry,  remove discrimination against  Jammu and Ladakh while sanctioning funds for tourism development as 90 % funds are going to Kashmir only for the last many decades, ensure expansion of Jammu airport and develop it for international flights, extend new Industrial policy to the Tourism sector  in J&K and set up Tourism Development Authority for Kailash Yatra in Bhaderwah.
