Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Oct 8:  While demanding affective action against liquor and drug mafia in the State, former Minister and State NCP chief Th Randhir Singh said that it is shocking that city of temples has become the city of liquor shops and bars, violating all the Excise rules and over 225 liquor shops are allowed to run in the winter capital.
Mr Singh in a press statement said that it is very sad that liquor trade is mostly in the hands of Ex-MPs, former Ministers, Ex -MLAs, MLCs and their relations and political followers and even women have been provided liquor licenses.
NCP leader said the licenses of  wine shops and wine bars have been granted by violating all the Excise rules by allowing these shops near the places of worship, schools and have allowed wine shops and bars after every 2 km between Jammu and Lakhanpur and Jammu to Srinagar highways which are the  causes of frequent road accidents.
He also expressed serious concern over the increasing menace of drug addiction and said that this is spoiling the health and career of the state youth.  He demanded that affective steps be taken to curb this menace.
