JAMMU, June 22: To observe “International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking” falling on June 26, a rally was organized by Narcotics Control Bureau, Jammu Zonal Unit, here today.
In the rally, State Excise Department, J&K, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Drug Controller, De-addiction Centre, Jammu and artists of Nav Durga Kala Manch as well as local masses took part.
The rally was flagged off by Dr SD Singh, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu Zone in the presence of Manoj Kumar, Zonal Director, Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Jammu Charanjeet Singh, President, Jammu Wine Traders Association and many others.
The rally commenced from NCB, Office Gandhi Nagar and after passing through Nanak Nagar, Valmiki Chowk, Green Belt Park, Panama Chowk concluded at University of Jammu.
The message against the drug abuse was conveyed through banners, placards and publicity van. All the participants were raising anti-drug slogans.
At the end of the rally, Manoj Kumar, Zonal Director, NCB Jammu said that NCB observed the occasion throughout the fortnight of the month in J&K by organizing nukkad natak at District Jail, Amphalla, for NCC cadets at Nagrota Camp, at University of Jammu for the football players of 12 States participating in a Football Tournament organized by SSB and at Toll Plaza Lakhanpur, Kathua to spread the message of awareness against the drug abuse in the society.
“NCB, Jammu has also flashed SMS of theme provided by UNODC with the help of various mobile subscribers viz. Airtel, Idea, Vodafone and Reliance. During the rally and awareness programmes, the publicity material showing the message against drug abuse were also distributed among the local masses”, Manoj Kumar added.
