NC withdraws privilege motion against judge

JAMMU, Jan 23: The National Conference members have  withdrawn the privilege motion moved   against the  Sub Judge Jammu, Kusum Pandita with regard  to directions passed on to the SHO City to register an FIR against MLC Showkat Hussain  Ganai for his remarks in the Upper House of the J&K Legislature.
Official sources told the Excelsior that today the NC Member Dr Bashir Ahmed Veeri, who had moved the motion along with other NC members in the House, describing it as intrusion of the Judiciary in the functioning of Legislature, today  withdrew the motion against the Sub Judge after she dismissed the case.  The chairman of the Legislative Council after hearing the arguments also allowed the member to withdraw the motion.
Secretary, Legislative Council. Abdul Majid Bhat confirmed the development and maintained that National Conference has withdrawn the Privilege Motion moved against the judge.
Dr Veeri from NC told the Excelsior that some members from Bar Association Jammu intervened and they had two rounds of  discussions over the issue in last 2-3 days. It was also mentioned that judge was misled by the complainant  and did not project the clear picture before court. The case accordingly stands dismissed by the court. He said in view of maintaining  cordial relations between the Judiciary and Legislature and after the intervention of  the party high command as well, the motion was withdrawn this afternoon.
