NC protests over use of force against students

Srinagar, Apr 18:  The Youth Wing of opposition National Conference (NC) today staged anti- government protests against the use of force on students during recent protests and alleged that the Government is not doing anything to reach out to the agitating youth.
Scores of NC workers draped in black suits today took out a protest march from its Nawi Subh party office to the Partap Park. Holding ply cards, “we want justice” and “stop atrocities on students”, the workers protested against what they said ‘highhandedness’ of Police on students during the recent protests.
NC’s provincial President of youth wing, Salman Sagar, while talking to reporters said, “We condemn the unprecedented use of force and stand here in solidarity with the students who suffered injuries during the recent protests. We mourn over this political apathy: whole Kashmir is burning and the Government seems to be in deep slumber and is turning a blind eye toward their brutalities so that they can enjoy loaves of power”.
He further alleged that Government was doing nothing to reach out to the distraught youth and wanted the Centre to impose Governor’s rule to safeguard the future of the State. “We want the Centre to impose Governor’s rule in the State so that people get some relief. This is just a symbolic protest and if the Government fails to put a check on the brutalities, which their forces are implicating on the people, we will intensify the protests”, he said.
Asked why they want the centre to impose Governor’s rule, he said: “The Government is nowhere and they are only using force against people and have failed to bring all the stakeholders on a negotiation table”.
