NC to protect special status of J&K: Farooq

Srinagar, Oct 28: Ahead of delegate session of the opposition National Conference here in Srinagar, the president of the party, Dr Farooq Abdullah today said that his party will protect the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and will fight against the forces inimical to the peace.
Speaking to the working committee of the party here at Nawi Subh headquarters, Abdullah reiterated the party’s resolve of protecting the special status of the State.  He said that party will ensure that all the three regions of the State are united against the forces inimical to peace, dignity and prosperity of the State.

The NC president took stock of the preparations of the delegate session that is being held tomorrow at Sher e Kashmir Cricket Stadium here.
“The party was based on the bedrock of public service and selfless struggle. It is this ethos that has guided the party over the past almost eight decades and we should continue to pass on and protect this legacy. Politics is the most effective tool to bring about a change for the better – to improve the lives of our people and to resolve issues”, Abdullah told the Working Committee.
The NC Working Comm-ittee discussed the situation in Kashmir and Government’s failure to mitigate the problems faced by the people of the State. The meeting discussed the deteriorating security situation in Kashmir valley and said that PDP-BJP Government has failed to provide peace and security to the people.
The Working Committee also discussed the appointment of Interlocutor by the BJP led NDA Government. It stressed for meaningful dialogue for peace and stability in the State.
The Working Committee also discussed the economic situation in the State and problems faced by the people due to implementation of GST regime.
The meeting discussed and unanimously cleared all the three resolutions slated to be passed in the delegate session. The three resolutions are related to political, economic and present situation of the State.
The meeting was attended by working president of the party and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, general secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar, additional general secretary Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, provincial presidents Nasir Aslam Wani, Devendra Singh Rana and other senior leaders from all the three regions of the State.
In the meeting, Abdullah asked his son and working president of the party, Omar Abdullah to take over the reigns of the party but Omar declined.
