NC pays tributes to Sheikh Nazir Ahmed on 2nd death anniversary

SRINAGAR, Feb 22: National Conference has paid glowing tributes to veteran NC leader and former general secretary Advocate Sheikh Nazir Ahmed on his second death anniversary.
Party president Dr  Farooq Abdullah and working president  Omar Abdullah  highlighted Sheikh Nazir Ahmed’s unparalleled contribution to the party and termed him as a statesman who stood in defence of his principles till his last breath. Congregational Fateha Khwani will be held on Friday at Sheikh Nazir Ahmed’s ancestral graveyard at Soura at 9 am followed by a party function at NC Headquarters at Nawa-e-Subha Complex at 10 am. Commemorative functions are also being organized across the length and breadth of the State in all the three regions.
“Sheikh Nazir was a courageous son of the soil who served the people and his party without any self-seeking ambitions.  He never aspired for a position of power in the Government, nor did he advance any personal goals. He always maintained a close rapport with the party workers and remained accessible to them even when his health was in shambles”, NC president Dr  Farooq Abdullah said in his message issued from Party Headquarters in Srinagar.
NC working president  Omar Abdullah has also paid glowing tributes to Sheikh Nazir Ahmed on his second death anniversary. “Nazir Sahab’s demise created a vacuum not only within National Conference but also in the State’s polity that will be very hard to fill. His service towards his people remained the focal point of his life and he devoted his entire life in serving the party”,  Omar said in his message.
NC general secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar described Sheikh Nazir Ahmed as a tall statesman and an exemplary and visionary leader who served his State and its people without any personal interests.
NC additional general secretary Dr  Sheikh Mustafa Kamal said Sheikh Nazir played a pioneering role in strengthening the State’s institutions and also safeguarded the State’s interests politically without aspiring for personal political empowerment and this selflessness and statesmanship should be a beacon of light for public representative regardless of their party of political affiliations.
NC provincial president Nasir Aslam Wani,   party legislators, functionaries, office bearers and workers also paid glowing tributes to Sheikh Nazir Ahmed on his death anniversary.
