Srinagar, July 7: The National Conference MLAs from Srinagar today said that the Srinagar city has been neglected by the PDP-BJP government and projects launched during NC rule in Srinagar were left halfway.
Addressing a press conference, NC MLA and General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar said: “We the Srinagar based MLAs and in charge constituencies have decided to meet the Governor and the Advisors for the redressal of the harassment, injustice and discrimination that had been done with the Srinagar city from the last three and a half years. This is not the first time that we are talking about it in Governor Rule; we had protested and raised our voice earlier also but nothing happened”, he said.
“It became a rule from past three years to make Srinagar economically destitute and to impose restrictions, curfew and harassment on day to day basis”, he said.
“Everyone saw that Srinagar has been made target now after South Kashmir and in view of that a situation of insecurity is being created due to which people irrespective of any community or field have to suffer. Every Government should address the problems faced by the people of Srinagar as it is the heart of the State”, he said.

Sagar said that the projects that were started during NC Government have left halfway by the PDP led Government. “Former Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti while addressing media persons once said that the situation in the Srinagar does not allow us to spent funds and we would spend it on Jammu and Ladakh. The projects that had been started at the time of Omar Abdullah led Government were stopped”, he said.
“The construction work on the flyover project which we started is still pending and as compared to that in Jammu, the flyover was inaugurated two years back. In Jammu, the Master Plan was implemented and completed one and a half years back but the Srinagar Master Plan is still pending”, he said.
“In health sector, Srinagar was totally ignored. There were backdoor appointments. Almost in every sector of life, people have to suffer. There are bullets, pellets, crackdowns, CASO operations, operation all out and youth being run over by vehicles here. But no relief came from the PDP-BJP government in last three and a half years”, he said.
He said that people of Srinagar will not forget that the Jamia Masjid was locked for 65 Fridays in these three years. NC will try to address the problems of the people of Srinagar. He said Rs 3000 crores flood relief is still pending.
“People who were part of the government are pointing fingers at each other now. Documentary evidence is being given to the media about scandals and frauds. Rs 46000 crores was shown as expenses for the dredging in Srinagar but Chief Engineer said that he don’t know about it”, he said.
