NC holds protest against killing of Amarnath pilgrims

JAMMU, July 13: J&K National Conference held a protest at Marh to protest against the killing of seven innocent Shri Amarnath ji yatris in terrorists attack on National Highway and injuries to many others.
Addressing the Dharna, former Minister and senior leader National Conference, Ajay Sadhotra condemned the killing of innocent pilgrims. He said he has no words to condemn such dastardly killings. “BJP Government at the centre and BJP-PDP Government in the State have failed to provide adequate security to Shri Amarnath ji yatris”, he said, adding that both the BJP Governments at the Centre and the State were making high claims of security arrangements for smooth conduct of Shri Amarnath ji yatra but this unfortunate incident has exposed their hollow claims.
Expressing anguish and sorrow over the killing of Shri Amarnath ji yatris, Sadhotra demanded Rs 20 lakhs ex-gratia for the next kith and kin of each killed and Rs 5 lakhs for the each injured. “Terrorism has no religion, as every religion teaches respect to other religions and always against killing of innocent people”, he stated.
National Conference has always stood for communal amity and equality, he said and emphasized the need of further strengthening security for conducting smooth Amarnath ji yatra so that such unfortunate and barbaric incident did not reoccur.
Sadhotra said it is high time that people of the state and rest of the country should unite irrespective of caste, creed, colour, religion and region to fight the terrorism.
Among others who spoke were Swaran Singh, Sub Ghasita Ram, Choudhary Nazir Ahmed, Inderpal Singh, Piar Singh, Sham Lal Choudhary, Dewan Singh, Capt Om Parkash, Mangal Dass, Aman Singh, etc.
