NC creates ruckus, stages walkout from LA over BJP’s ‘war cry’ against Pak

SRINAGAR:  Main opposition party in Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC) today created ruckus in the Legislative Assembly alleging that the ‘war cry’ given by ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) against Pakistan has created panic among the people in border areas of Jammu region.

As soon as the Lower House resumed business today, NC Members led by Devinder Singh Rana, were on their feet demanding that the government should give a statement on the current situation and clarify if it was bad.

Mr Rana also asked the government to clarify if it endorsed the statement made by BJP member yesterday, demanding bombing of  militant camps in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK). “Due to the war cry given by BJP, the people living in the border areas are feeling unsafe and are in panic,” he said.

He said BJP is advocating for a war because if tension escalates, the shells and bullets from across the border will not reach Nagpur or Delhi, it is the local poor people living along the borders who will have to suffer.       Hitting out at ruling Peoples Democratic Party, he asked PDP Members, who were sitting silently on their seats, what happened to their ‘baat banagey boli sai’ slogan.

“What will work, dialogue or bullet? Your partner is demanding bombing of Pakistan. Is that the official stand of the government,” he asked.

However, BJP members retaliated, saying that Pakistan has killed hundreds of Kashmiri people and they should be dealt with iron hands.        This resulted in heated arguments between NC and BJP, though nothing was audible as members from both the parties were shouting.

However, Speaker Kavindra Gupta didn’t allow any discussion on the issue and said,”We should be proud of the fact that the Center is capable to give a reply to Pakistan.

Irked by it, NC Members staged a walkout from the Legislative Assembly.  “You should talk about peace and not war,” NC Member Ali Mohammad Sager was head saying while leaving the House. (AGENCIES)
