NC-Cong review poll campaign

JAMMU, Nov 19: Joint Coordination Committee of National Conference and Congress, constituted for Council polls reviewed the election campaign strategy in a meeting held here this afternoon.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand, Minister for Health Sham Lal Sharma, Minister for Public Enterprises Peerzada Mohd Sayeed, Minister of State Aijaz Ejaz Ahmed Khan, former minister and MLA Dooru G A Mir and MLC Ravinder Sharma, all from Congress Party.
Law and RDD Minister Ali Mohd Sagar, Industries Minister S S Slathia, Social Welfare Minister Sakina Ittoo and MLC Ajay Sadhotra from National Conference were present. Another member from NC, legislator Choudhary Ramzan could not attend the meeting due to some pre-engagements.
Sources said that the joint coordination committee discussed the poll strategy and resolved to launch joint campaign through out the State to ensure victory of all the four ‘Coalition’ candidates contesting Legislative Council elections. The campaign schedule was also discussed and it was decided to start joint poll campaign from day after tomorrow and mobilize support from Sarpanchs and Panchs. The campaign will be commenced from Rajouri and Poonch, followed by other areas.
Earlier, PCC chief Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz chaired a separate meeting of his party legislators and ministers at 10.30 am here today to discuss the poll campaign strategy. All the Congress ministers excluding Taj Mohi-ud-Din and Dr Manohar Lal Sharma attended the meeting. Congress candidate hailing from Assar in Doda, Sham Lal Bhagat was also present. From erstwhile Doda, only two MLAs Ghulam Mohd Saroori (Inderwal) and Mohd Shrief Niaz (Bhaderwah) attended it. The members unanimously decided to go for joint campaign for Council polls.
