SRINAGAR, May 15:  Former Minister Abdul Gani Vakil has expressed surprise over National Conference and Congress supporting Kashmir Conference, organized by Yashwant Sinha led group of concerned citizens on Kashmir and alleged that it was responsible for present mess in Valley.
In a statement issued here today,  Vakil said  while Congress is responsible for eroding the article 370 from 1953 onwards till the fall of the Omar led NC-Congress Coalition Government in the year 2014, the National Conference known for its failures in keeping promises on restoration of article 370 and AFSPA (Armed Forces Special Powers Act),   itself is responsible for the current crisis in Kashmir.
Saying that Congress overthrew Sheikh Abdullah Government in 1953, changed the nomenclature of political administration by re-designating the Sadr-e-Reyasat and Prime Minister as Governor and Chief Minister during GM Sadiq regime, withdrew support to Sheikh Abdullah Government in 1975 after the signing of Indira-Abdullah accord and stage a political coup against Farooq Abdullah to oust National Conference Government in mid-eighties, Vakil regretted that Farooq Abdullah has forgotten all the political misadventures of successive Congress regimes.
Vakil also said that Congress supporting the Sinha sponsored Kashmir conference alongwith National Conference owes an explanation to the people of the state for its failures in the resolution of Kashmir during last sixty eight years of the party rule at the Centre.
Saying that National Conference and Congress are playing a fixed match by supporting Sinha led Kashmir Conference just for the purposes of pelf and power, Vakil said the Kashmir Conference led by Sinha and group of concerned citizens in Delhi is an attempt to deflect the attention of the people from the current crisis in Kashmir.
