NC-Cong meeting works out strategy for by-polls

Srinagar, Mar 19: The National Conference and its alliance partner for Parlia-mentary by-polls, Congress, today held a high-level joint coordination meeting to devise a strategy for the by-polls.
The meeting was attended by National Conference and Congress leaders, legislators, segment in-charges and office bearers at Nawai Subh Headqu-arters of National Conference in Srinagar.
National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah, working president Omar Abdullah, Pradesh Congress Committee chief Ghulam Ahmed Mir and National Conference general secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar besides various leaders of both parties addressed the meeting that was held to preview preparations and strategy for the upcoming by-elections to the two Parliament seats of Srinagar and Anantnag.
Besides senior leaders, legislators and Assembly segment heads, youth leaders and office bearers of National Conference and Congress were also part of the meeting. Candidates of both parties, who contested in 15 Assembly segments in 2014, were present and strategy for constituency wise coordination was worked out.
The leaders discussed the current political situation and also reviewed joint preparations in Srinagar and Anan-tnag Parliamentary segments and said both parties would work in close quarters to ensure success of their candidates in Anantnag and Srinagar Parliament segments.
Keeping in view the situation in Kashmir, the leaders in the meeting stressed for low key campaigning. They asked the block level workers to go for door to door campaign instead of focusing for rallies which may invite security problems.
Without naming the PDP and BJP, the leaders of the two parties asked their workers to defeat the designs of the RSS in Kashmir.
In the meantime, the District Congress Committee Anantnag held a joint meeting of prominent workers of National Conference and Congress at Veerinag and Saidiwara in Dooru area. The meeting was presided over by MLA Gulzar Ahmad Wani and attended by senior district leaders of the Party.
Addressing the meeting, MLA Gulzar Ahmad Wani urged upon the party workers of the two parties to gear up for the polls and ensure victory of Congress candidate for Anantnag G A Mir for strengthening secular forces in the State.
