NC-Cong Coalition in interest of State: Rather

KATHUA, Mar 1: As a sequel to initiatives to provide maximum possible facilities to the people of remote and bad pockets of the State at par with urbanities, the Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs, Abdul Rahim Rather today inaugurated a Government Sub- Treasury at Ramkot, Billawar in district Kathua, raising total number of treasuries in the State to 130.
The Minister of State for Finance, Cooperatives and Fisheries, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma, who is also the local MLA of Billawar constituency, was also present.
The Sub-Treasury, Ramkote is the 58th Treasury in Jammu division and 6th treasury in district Kathua and will cater to 20 Drawing & Disbursing Officers (DDOs) of the area including Khoon, Balpur, Dhema, Nagrota Gujroo, Uchapind, Thada Kalyal, Gura Kalyal, Chinji Makwal, Mandli and Durung etc.
Speaking to a large gathering, after inaugurating the treasury, Mr Rather reiterated Government’s commitment to provide all possible facilities to the people at their door steps, adding that opening of Government Treasuries especially in remote and inaccessible areas is a leap forward in this direction.
He said present dispensation has given much focus to remote and backward areas of the state in its planning and policy framework to provide them equal opportunities of development and progress, adding that, for the first time in the history of the state, allocation of special grants, for bad pockets of all the three regions of the State, has been made a permanent feature in Annual Budget estimates.
He cautioned the people against disruptive and communal forces, adding that united efforts are needed to thwart machinations of anti- national and anti-people elements who are hell bent to derail the process of peace, tranquillity, development and progress set into motion in nook and corner of the State by the Coalition Government.
Describing a rural development block as the basic unit of development, Mr Rather said that Cabinet nod to creation of new administrative units was a historic and landmark decision of the Coalition Government to bring administration at the door steps of the common people.
Mr Rather elaborated on people friendly measures taken by the Coalition Government during the last 5 years, adding that some land mark laws were enacted to empower people through decentralization of power which include RTI and Public Services Guarantee Act( PSGA). He said as many as 80 services have been notified under PSGA for convenience of the people.
Dr Manohar Lal Sharma also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the major achievements of the Coalition Government for the overall socio- economic transformation of the State.
Dr Sharma reiterated the resolve of the Coalition Government to take the State to new heights of prosperity and development with united efforts. He said forging of NC-Congress coalition in J&K in 2009 was a conscious decision of the respective leaderships, keeping in the larger interests of the State.
The Director General, Accounts and Treasuries, Mirza Altaf Hussain, Director Account & Treasuries Jammu Division, Mohammed Aslam, ADC Kathua Prasanna Ramaswamy, SSP Kathua Mohan Lal, Ex MLA Kathua Dhian Chand, SDM Billawar, Panchs, Sarpanchs and a large number of people were present on the occasion.
