NC committed to nurture peace, sustaining development: Rana

RAMBAN Sept 5: Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana on Thursday said that a strong edifice of infrastructural development has been laid during ongoing term of the Omar led Government across Jammu and Kashmir and declared that the momentum will be sustained and carried forward with a renewed vigour and a sense of commitment in the next spell beginning 2014.
“Restoration of peace; sense of security; transparent, responsive and accountable administration; employability apart from inclusive development have been the hall mark of the Government during the past over four and half years, which is being even acknowledged by the ardent critics, who were apprehensive about the turn-around in situation in the wake of most volatile situation of 2008”, the Provincial President said while addressing district party workers monthly meeting held at Maitra, near here.
Mr Rana lauded the stewardship of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for taking off his innings on a promising note and restoring peace, which was the biggest challenge keeping in view of the situation obtaining at that point of time and obstacles being created by those having vested interest in disturbed conditions.
“The teething problems were really challenging mainly because the frustrated elements, after having lost the hope to regaining power, indulging in disruption. He said the National Conference had a bigger agenda of steering the people out of the morass and creating a situation conducive for bridging the trust deficit between different sections of the people and two regions of the State in the wake of unprecedented agitation on Amarnath land row.
“National Conference will continue its efforts to ensure a peaceful atmosphere for people to lead a dignified life and taste the fruit of development and prosperity”, he said while spelling out path-breaking initiatives taken by the Government for empowering people, ensuring development and meeting the tough challenge of creating opportunities for the unemployed educated youth.
Mr Rana urged the party workers to generate awareness among the people, especially those living in mountainous and far off areas, about the steps taken by the Government since 2009 for their welfare and emancipation. “The report card of the Chief Minister is a testimonial of Omar Abdullah’s vision on Jammu and Kashmir and an insight of his yearning to take the State to highest pinnacles of progress in a peaceful atmosphere”, he added.
The Provincial President reminded the people about the big task ahead in 2014 and said solid foundations for a massive victory are to be laid from right now. He asked the party functionaries to gear up field units and prepare for the big democratic exercise on a grand scale, befitting to the party that has presence in every nook and corner.
