JAMMU, Jan 12: ‘Children Theatre Extravaganza-2017’ organized by Natrang held here today at Abhinav Theatre Jammu featured two plays ‘Papa Kho Gaye’ and ‘Mere Hisse Ki Dhoop Kahan Hai’.
Prof Ashok Aima, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu, was the chief guest on the occasion. The new play ‘Papa Kho Gaya’ written by Vijay Tendulkar and directed by Aarushi Thakur was a product of a week-long Children Winter Theatre Camp in which new faces of Natrang’s young team featured.
The second play  “Mere Hisse Ki Dhoop Kanan Hai”, written and directed by Balwant Thakur was the ultimate attraction of the evening which demonstrated at length that with continued professional training children can attain highest levels of acting and confidence.
Hindi new play ‘Papa Kho Gaye” was devised, designed and directed  by Aarushi Thakur who has specialized in theatre Direction from Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, London and has also underwent training in Direction at a workshop of National School of Drama. It is a fantasy story of how a letter box, a tree, an electric pole and a crow get together to save a little girl from the clutches of a kidnapper.
The second play of the evening ‘Mere Hisse Ki Dhoop Kahan Hai’ in a very sensitive manner deals with the hazards of population explosion and very subtly highlights every deplorable aspect of population explosion. The irony, which children have to live with, the obstacles they have to face, are brought out in an intrepid manner. Beginning with malnutrition inadequate food and clothing to seeking admissions in schools and overcrowded classes with no jobs and glaring shortcomings, practically every damaging result of over population is dealt with.
The music of the play was scored by Anil Tickoo, Rakesh Kona was on rhythm and lights were executed by Neeraj Kant and Pankaj Sharma. Gauri Thakur did the presentations and Sumeet Sharma presented the vote of thanks.
