Natrang stages Hindi play ‘Jangiram Ki Haveli’

JAMMU, July 9: Natrang staged a new Hindi play ‘Jangiram Ki Haveli’ written by the famous revolutionary playwright Gurusharan Singh in its weekly Sunday theatre Series. The play was designed and directed by Neeraj Kant.
The play revolves around the story of four residents of a downtrodden Haveli of “Jangiram” who died leaving the residents helpless. The “Haveli” is symbolic to the country and the residents represent the citizens of the country. The residents being overly dependent on “Jangiram” did not know how to survive without him. The residents troubled by this situation sought the help of the narrator and it helped them awaken and work for themselves. It prompted them to hold the elections to choose their new representative. The new representative was the same as the old one and did nothing to improve the conditions. The place they live in is in so poor condition that they are still on the same boat as they were before. The play culminates when the narrator succeeds in making the people understand that any how they have to live for themselves under no pressures and democracy is their birth right and they must understand the value of it. The revolutionary nature of the writer Gurusharan Singh is depicted in the play in an energetic way.
Natrang actors who performed in the play included Brijesh Avtar Sharma, Sachin Saini, Akshit Koul, Mihir Gujral, Aashish Parihar, Priya Thakur, Madhav Sharma, Sandeep Kumar, Moses Marton and Anmol Sharma. Lights were designed and executed by Neeraj Kant whereas music was scored by Brijesh Avtar Sharma. The presentations were done by Gopi Sharma and the show was coordinated by Mohd Yaseen.
