JAMMU, June 25: Natrang today presented a Hindi play ‘Tairaaq’ in its Sunday Theatre Series.
The play originally written in Dogri by eminent Dogri literateur Chhatrapal and translated in Hindi by the playwright himself was effectively directed by Neeraj Kant.
The play opens in the office of a works department where a junior engineer is shown struggling to find a big avenue of extra earning. His senior who also happens to be his relative while enquiring about his worries revealed that need of extra buck is necessitated to maintain an illicit relation.
The senior is also lured to maintain that status and both rope in a local politician to accomplish a common agenda. The senior conceptualizes the game plan. The politician is asked to generate a public demand for the construction of a swimming pool in the town on a public garden, public pressure is mounted and Government sanctions the swimming pool.
Entire exercise of construction and inauguration happens only on papers and money is drawn and shared amongst three. Now with the fear of being exposed they plan yet another gimmick. Politician uses public, media, demanding the closure of swimming pool being a threat to the lives of young children.
Here the Government, in public pressure sanctions the conversion of swimming pool again to a public garden. Garden remains the same and the public exchequer is looted thrice in this nexus.
The actors who enlivened this hard hitting play included Bhisham Gupta as Bada Engineer, Moses Marton as Chota Engineer and Brijesh Avtaar Sharma as Jan Pratinidhi. The sound of the play was scored by Vrinda Sharma, who also done the presentations of the play and the lights were done by Neeraj Kant. The show was coordinated by Mohd Yaseen.
